Dear Colleagues,

The 2nd COSOSA Cardio-Oncology Conference will be hosted from 3 to 4 June 2022 at the Premier Hotel Umhlanga, Durban, South Africa.

Cancer and Cardiovascular disease (CVD) are the two most common causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide and with increased life expectancy, the burden of both diseases is increasing substantially. Cardio-oncology has developed as a necessary discipline within Cardiology and Oncology because of the cardiovascular adverse sequelae of cancer therapy (chemotherapy and radiation). Clinically, these challenges are best addressed by a multidisciplinary approach.

COSOSA, an affiliate of the International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS), is the first Cardio-Oncology Society in Africa and is focused on exposing medical doctors involved with cancer management in South Africa and Africa to this discipline.

The COSOSA Multidisciplinary Fellows in Training Pre-Conference Workshop will be offered on Friday, 3 June 2022, 11:00 – 17:10. The target audience is Fellows in Cardiology, Oncology, Radiology, Haematology, and other disciplines involved in the treatment of cancer patients.  The academic content was developed by COSOSA Executives with Dr Trishun Singh, Prof Andrew Sarkin and Prof Alicia Sherriff as the Programme Conveners and was uniquely designed to cater specifically for the Fellows’ clinical needs. Cardio-Oncology is becoming increasingly important and has also been included in the Fellows Exams. The Conference Academic Programme will start at 08:20 and conclude at 18:00 on Saturday, 4 June 2022.

We look forward to hosting you at the COSOSA Conference 2022!
